matsuoka yoshitaka sensei
Matsuoka Yoshitaka sensei (1941) currently is the most important teacher in Shinkage ryu iaido. His own teacher, Akita Moriji sensei, still has a dojo in Nagoya. Akita sensei and Matsuoka sensei both studied under Kashima Kiyotaka sensei, who received permission to teach outside the Yagyukai in the thirties of the twentieth century, summarizing his budo disciplines under the name of 'Shinkage ryu.' Matsuoka sensei is 8-dan kyoshi in iaido and 7-dan kyoshi in kendo. He won second place at the prestigious Z.N.K.R. hachidan taikai in Hakone. Matsuoka sensei is president of the iaido branch of the Aichi Kendo Renmei and president of Iwakura Budokan. He also teaches in Kasugai dojo and at Jinshinkan in Nagoya. Until recently, he worked as director of Yamada Manufacturing Ltd. in Nagoya. He is shihan of the European Shinkage ryu Renmei.
kinomoto miyuki sensei
Kinomoto Miyuki sensei (1960) is the deshi (most advanced student) of Matsuoka sensei. She is 7-dan kyoshi in iaido, 5-dan in kendo and one of the teachers at the Iwakura Kendo Renmei. Kinomoto sensei also teaches at the Kendo club of Iwakura Highschool. Since 2000 she accompanies Matsuoka sensei at his yearly Shinkage ryu iaido seminar in Paris, and, since 2004, at the Murugai Seminar in Rotterdam. Before that, she was a member of Ishido sensei's delegation during his summer seminars in The Netherlands and the United Kingdom a few times. As representative of the Aichi-ken 7th dan division she is an active player in the Zen Nippon Kendo Renmei iaido taikai league.
